Warmth for a big family

9 adopted children and 2 biological children are currently being raised in the foster family of Olena Shafran. On the eve of a severe winter, the house needs additional heating. The price of stove is UAH 56,800. Let's give them warmth together!

A year and a half ago, the patronage family of Olena Shafran was born - the couple adopted the first three children from the hospital. Of course, Olena and her husband are experienced mom and dad, they have three birth children. But a year and a half ago, they opened the doors of their home for children born by other parents who lacked the ability or desire to give children everything they need.

One day Olena saw an ad about patronatus in the social service. She remembered the experience of helping a dysfunctional neighbor's family, whose adults, despite support, were not ready to change their lives. The same way of life: in poverty and alcoholism - children took from them. Olena really wanted to try to show such boys and girls that it is possible to live differently, to warm them up in family and care.

For more than a month they collected documents, about 4 months they were trained at the school of foster parents: and now the first patronage children entered their house.

While we are talking on the phone, Olena manages to nurse the baby and answer the question of middle son. Several children for whom you are fully responsible, whom you have to take care whole the day and night – this is more than a job. After the adoption period (3 or 6 months), foster parents write all the necessary reports and part from the children, and new ones come after them.

The first siblings passed from Olena to a foster family: the birth parents did not prove their parental sustainability. The second ones are trying to restore their rights to be the parents. Now Olena has the third "team": 3 girls and 4 boys from 2 to 12 years old.

They, too, will eventually either return to the birth family if the biological parents are restored in their rights, or move to foster family, more permanent form of guardianship. Isn't it a pity for patronage parents to part - a rhetorical question. Of course, they get used to children and worry about their future fate. But what was in their power, they did.

The brothers and sisters visited a summer camp for the first time, a rope park, kayaking, learning to ride scooters and bicycles, to communicate and play (yes, sometimes this also needs to be learned). The guys love active games, especially in the water: they splashed with pleasure in a small pool, which was set up in the yard in the summer. And now a busy time of study begins: it is very difficult to study remotely with several children who are lagging behind in the program.

Olena and her husband have a large, comfortable house built about 10 years ago. But in winter it is blown by the winds, especially the corner rooms. Olena and her husband dream of weatherization of walls, but now they cannot afford it. In August they bought a heating boiler, but in case there are interruptions in gas and electricity, they also need a pellet stove. After buying a boiler, they have no finance for the stove.
