Thirteen-year-old Darius is a unique child with an equally unusual medical history. It all started when he was not even three years old, when the boy first fell ill with bronchitis. He fought it fiercely for a whole year: hospitalization every two weeks with a break of 5-6 days. As soon as he got better, bronchospasm immediately set in. The diagnosis was obstructive bronchitis. But something was clearly not right: even half a year of antibiotics did not improve Darius's condition. Only later, after exhausting allergy tests and prick tests, the boy's real illness was discovered - asthma.
The inhaler and the aerochamber eliminator were instead of toys in a small briefcase, and the thoracic department 170 km away became a second home for the child and his mother. Meanwhile, his father did not help at all - the boy owes his treatment to his mother's parents.
The boy grew up, thanks to breathing the morning sea breeze, his asthma gradually subsided. But unfortunately, that wasn’t the end of it. One day, the usual chickenpox turned into streptoderma. In the hospital, in the infectious diseases department, Darius began to drink a lot of water – up to seven liters, and that was only during the day. His sugar level at discharge was as if normal – if anyone had actually done it. The symptoms did not subside, and a week later his blood sugar level confirmed his worst fear: the level was five times higher than normal. After urgent hospitalization, the boy was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.
Thanks to the help of those who cared, the family was able to raise money for an insulin pump. However, medical care for a diabetic is a very expensive process, the costs of which never stop. And the ailments of the family of a war veteran and disabled person as a result of it are not limited to Darius – the boy’s mother has a third group of disability for life due to oncology. The family is now collecting sensors for continuous blood sugar monitoring. This family fought steadfastly and resolutely for every day they were given on this earth – become their allies in this fight!
