Since birth, Maksym has been struggling with spastic diplegia, a type of cerebral palsy that affects the legs. The disease was caused by premature birth – Maksym was born at 29 weeks of pregnancy. He survived hypoxia, brain hemorrhage, seizures, and spent more than a month in intensive care.
In addition to cerebral palsy, doctors also diagnosed hydrocephalus. Maksym underwent cranial trepanation and several surgeries to replace his bypass system, including in Ukraine and Turkey. He also underwent several surgeries on the bones, tendons and joints of his legs – all for the sake of a chance to walk.
Maksym is a very bright boy. He adores listening to books, loves colorful puzzles and exploring the world through special cards. It is difficult for him to speak, but his eyes shine with happiness when his mom or dad are around. They are his support and strength.
In order for Maksym not to lose his skills, he needs three rehabilitation sessions a year. Each of them is a step towards the goal. The next course is to start this spring. In addition, every month he needs money for medicines and a neurologist's examination. For an ordinary family, these are unaffordable expenses.
We believe that together with you we can give Maksym a chance. Every hryvnia is a step towards his dream of walking on his own. Help him get back on his feet!
