You have to pay to breathe. And it's expensive. This is not a fantasy story – it is the reality of our children. They breathe through special tubes inserted into the opening in their throats. 

The tubes themselves need to be changed regularly to prevent infections. The moisture exchange filters that are attached to the outside need to be changed even more often. They not only clean the air, but also humidify it so that the tracheal mucosa does not dry out. Without this, the breathing process itself (what could be simpler?) becomes painful. In addition, to use tracheostomy tubes, special neck bands and napkins are required.

So it turns out that for our children the simplest thing – breathing – is very expensive. And the budget does not cover these costs. It is difficult to save money in this area. In theory, tubes, filters, and wipes can be changed less frequently than specified in the instructions. Families often have to do so due to a chronic lack of money. But this increases the risk of infection. It is very difficult and expensive to treat them later. It's a kind of saving. 

We try to help our families with these expenses. Everyone, even seriously ill children, has the right to breathe easily and safely.
