Care is close by!

Loneliness in old age is often silent and cold. For many elderly people in Ukraine, daily lunch is not a matter of choice, but a struggle for survival. Low pensions, chronic illnesses and loneliness force older people to save even on the most necessary things – food that gives them strength and health.

Ivan, 82, lives alone and hardly ever leaves his home. His pension is barely enough to cover his medication, and he has to buy only the bare minimum of food. Olena, 76, prays every day that she will have enough bread and cereals for the week. There are hundreds of such stories – people who have worked all their lives, raised children, built our present, and now are left alone with poverty and illness.

With this project, we aim to provide support to 100 lonely, frail elderly people. We plan to purchase food packages worth a total of 52,000 UAH so that each person under our care receives a package of essential items and feels cared for, noticed, and confident about tomorrow.

Our organisation purchases fresh food weekly, assembles packages, and delivers them directly to the homes of elderly people – especially those who cannot leave their homes on their own. For our beneficiaries, these packages are not just food. They are a feeling that someone remembers them, that someone is there for them, and that they are not alone.

The charitable organisation "Caritas-Khmelnytskyi UGCC" has been supporting people in need for over 20 years.
