Yaroslav is 7 years old. This year he finished first grade. He is a very curious and energetic boy who loves running, cycling, playing with friends, and finding joy in every new day. On the outside he is no different from other children, yet for three years he has been fighting an illness every day – type 1 diabetes. Not a single day passes for him without constant monitoring. Yaroslavchyk must measure his glucose levels many times a day: after waking up, before every meal, after eating, before physical activity, after it, before going to sleep, and often in the middle of the night. Any excitement, running, active play, heat, or even a common cold can cause his blood sugar to change sharply.

When other children simply run out to the playground, Yaroslav first has to make sure his blood sugar is within normal range. Every trip, celebration, excursion, or sports session requires preparation, calculations, and constant attention. This is especially noticeable during physical activity. Yaroslav loves to be active, but physical movement can lead to dangerous hypoglycemia within minutes. The boy's parents do not want to limit his childhood because of illness, but are forced to be constantly on guard.

The hardest part is that diabetes never sleeps. His parents wake up at night to check his glucose level, as nighttime hypoglycemia can be especially dangerous. Sometimes a single number on the glucometer is enough to turn a night into hours of worry.

That is precisely why continuous glucose monitoring sensors are not a matter of comfort. They are the chance to see blood sugar changes in real time, respond to dangerous fluctuations in time, avoid serious episodes, and reduce the risk of complications. They are the chance to allow Yaroslav to be more active, to study, to play sport, and to live the life of an ordinary child – and for his parents to worry at least a little less about their son.

The family is sincerely reaching out with a request for help in providing Yaroslav with continuous glucose monitoring sensors. For the family, this means safety, peace of mind, and the chance to give their child more happy moments without the constant fear for his health.
