Life of a little volunteer at risk
UPD: There are cases when words are superfluous. There are such children who are given to live. And only thanks to the support of thousands of people Nastia is fine! The operation for bone marrow transplantation was more than a year ago. 100% of surviving cells from an unrelated donor is now part of the girl's health. More than 21 000 benefactors of UBB, STB television channel, volunteers, famous personalities have already become part of the Berestenko family. Do not be tired to say THANK YOU for the chance that you give to children thanks to your donations!
Thanks to the thousands of concerned people, as well as the work of doctors, the girl was rescued, in the summer she had her transplant in a German clinic. Treatment cost over 300 thousand euros. Now a girl must complete course rehabilitation, that illness did not return again. This year Nastia will go to school for the first time… if we help her overcome cancer. Six months ago the girl won over the disease but she has a recurrence. Now only bone marrow transplantation from an unrelated donor can help. In Ukraine this procedure is still not available.
Nastia’s parents created an initiative group to support children at the department of hematology of the Okhmatdyt immediately after the girl’s recovery (before the recurrence). Nastia is a little volunteer too. When Nastia was still at home her favorite pastime was preparing bags with pleasant surprises for kids at the hospital. Every Monday for several months Nastia’s mother with other volunteers organized small parties for kids of the Okhmatdyt. Many sensitive people baked sweets, bought toys and other little things for ill kids. The family didn’t want to ask for help again. Instead they wanted to help others. But, unfortunately, this insidious disease returned. The recurrence was diagnosed at early stage, that’s why the German doctors give good chances for a positive outcome. But they must act immediately.
To start the procedure of the transplantation from an unrelated donor the family must pay the cost of treatment at the German Clinic in Giessen. This is 300,000 euros. The family does not give up because they believe in goodness. They believe that their daughter will recover and will help others in the future.
