Success in sports despite illness

Kateryna began a fierce battle for her life in her first year – that was when she was diagnosed with diabetes. On the doctor's recommendation, she was connected to an insulin pump, which allows her to live a healthy life. Now Katia is 12 years old, she is active, plays sports, and has received considerable recognition: she has won prizes at Ukrainian and European fitness championships and graduated from 6th grade with honors.

In order to maintain her health and cheerfulness, she needs not only discipline in her diet and daily life, but also considerable financial resources. Every month, the family buys sensors to monitor her blood sugar levels, quick sets, and reservoirs for her insulin pump. Thanks to this, Katia not only has good test results, but also suffers less trauma – otherwise, she would have to prick her fingers up to 10 times a day and take insulin injections up to 6 times a day.
