Vadim Ruban was born while his mother Julia was studying at university. The baby was growing and progressing properly pleasing mommy. But their happiness didn’t last over a year. Once when Vadim was 10 months he fainted for some minutes. Ever since such bouts were frequent. Doctors said ‘Never mind’ and didn’t diagnose before the boy turned 3 though the progress of the child has stopped. Just then frightening word ‘epilepsy’ was told.

To define the illness is not enough, doctors have to determine its nature and assign a therapy. Epilepsy has different origins and the focuses of disease. Medical men of Dnipropetrovsk didn’t manage to help the boy and recommended to consult with foreign specialists.
Then Julia with her son went to Kyiv. But in ‘Ohmatdyt’ and in Pavlov insane hospital there was the same result: diagnostic ‘epilepsy’, different guesses about its nature and no new assignments.

Members of the Ministry of Health consent: there is no epileptologist either in Dnipropetrovsk or in Kyiv. Meanwhile, Vadim being 7 measured up the level of a 2-3 years old. He can’t speak, use the toilet himself, he is overactive, he tastes the ground and soap, muddles the day and the night. When he’s sick, he can’t tell what hurts: stomach or head. To manage him is far more difficult – the boy is growing and putting on weight.Julia refused to left his son, and his father left them. The mother raises Vadim with her parents. She can’t have a full-time job. She exhausted but she doesn’t capitulate.

There is a common misthought in Ukraine that epilepsy is beyond cure. But in developed countries, 70% of patients get well! They just have to pass checkup, the right medicines have to be selected, and they will be able to live without medicaments in 3-5 years.

The ‘Assuta-hospital’ in Israel suggested Julia examine and treat Vadim. They are sure they can find the focuses of the disease in the brain and extirpate it or resolve the problem with medicines.

Then the boy will get back to the normal advance, will be able to talk and understand others. The clinic billed for USD 6 600, but now it remains to collect only UAH 45 000. Let's help Julia and Vadimchik! In our country, apparently, they have no hope.
