Vadym is a cheerful, sociable and active boy. He is about to turn twelve years old, and for almost a quarter of his life he has been living with a terrible disease – diabetes. His childhood is filled with daily injections, tests and constant fear for his health. Instead of growing up carefree, the boy and his mother count bread units, wear a sensor, and have to wake up at night from low or high sugar levels.
However, the boy does not give up – together with his friends, in good weather, Vadym rides bicycles from morning to night, inventing new fancy tricks. But it's not just riding that the boys are interested in – when they gather in the yard, the noisy group begins to resemble real mechanics: they are always tightening, lubricating, checking brakes, and discussing new tuning innovations.
Lately, due to hormonal changes in Vadym's body, sugar levels have become difficult to control. There are days when all the once reliable methods fail: neither coefficients nor pauses help to overcome consistently high sugar. Therefore, constant monitoring is not a whim, but a vital necessity. But the family cannot afford to buy monitoring sensors all the time: while Vadym's mother is on maternity leave with his younger sister, only his father works in the family. Vadym is a master at learning about and fixing all sorts of mechanisms - be the crucial part that will allow his own and the most important one to work properly!
