Vadym urgently needs kidney transplant

The Ministry of Health of Ukraine has allocated money for the operation for Vadim. Kidney failure. Most of us have met this expression, perhaps, only in the list of contraindications to medications, looking quickly through the sheet and feeling relieved, that it not about us. Vadim Vorchilo has been living with that disease for 15 years. The life of the boy was happy, but one day his condition deteriorated dramatically: Vadim began to choke in the night, there were nausea and bad appetite. After the examination, doctors diagnosed – terminal chronic renal failure (CRF).

This is a condition in which a result of progressive kidney disease is a gradual destruction of kidney tissue. The kidneys, in substance, fail to fulfill its primary function – to purify the blood, which leads to malfunction of organs and tissues. At late (terminal) stage CRF patients require regular dialysis or kidney transplantation.

Now the life of Vadim is supported by peritoneal dialysis ("artificial kidney"). For this purpose, the catheter is sewn into the abdominal cavity and the boy permanently every 6 hours (4 times a day!), pours in and out dialysis fluid, which removes toxins from the blood.

Dialysis washes not only polluting substances but also all useful elements contained in his blood. The daily risk of infection of the abdominal cavity through a catheter, general weakness, nausea, confusion, hypertension (increasing of blood pressure up to 220/160) – these are daily complications that accompany Vadim. Because of action of toxins in his body there has started dystrophic changes muscles (polyneuropathy), loss of sensitivity of feet and calf muscles of both legs are not functioning.Dialysis is unable to cope with all the chemicals in the blood, and they just destroy his muscles and organs. Doctors throw up their hands and say that the only way to restore the body – an urgent kidney transplant.Otherwise, muscular dystrophy will move higher, destroying the whole body.

Because of dystrophia of muscle mass (loss of protein in the body) for the last 8 years, Vadim had lost 10 kg. The boy strictly limits the amount of fluid that he is drinking, because the accumulation of excess fluid can cause swelling of the brain and lungs, and he is following the very strict diet.

The only chance to live for Vadim is a kidney transplant. Ukrainian law allows the only transplant from relatives, but the only relative who can do it is a mother, but she can not be a donor for medical reasons. Chance for Life for Vadim gives Republican Scientific and Practical Center "Organ and Tissue Transplantation" (Belarus). To pass the examination and be put on the waiting list for a kidney transplant, there is need to collect 169 thousand UAH.

Vadim recently returned from Belarus where he spent typing and have put in place for the donor search and transplant kidneys. However, after a huge turn guy has to wait. To support of life at this period it is essential to take a rescue medication. In this regard, the funds already raised on the UBB website will be used for maintenance therapy.

Vadim is fighting for his life as he can. He is a real man and he does not want to be pitied – he just wants to understand. Understanding of his cherished desire to change everything, to be happy, to create a full family to have a baby and be happy every single day.
