Sometimes a single moment can change a life. Just yesterday, 17-year-old Karyna – a first-year journalism student – had countless plans, loved drawing, and spent time reading her favorite books. Today, she lies in a hospital bed after a severe car accident, fighting for the chance to move again.
On November 22, Karyna was hit by a car at a pedestrian crossing. She suffered serious injuries: multiple fractures of the cervical vertebrae with dislocations, pronounced spinal canal stenosis, a fracture of the surgical neck of the right humerus, and a head injury. She has already undergone three surgeries, and her condition remains critical. She is conscious and able to control the upper part of her body, but she cannot move her legs yet. Doctors have begun rehabilitation but are cautious with their prognosis – a long and difficult recovery lies ahead.
Recently, Karyna underwent an urgent surgery – osteosynthesis of the right clavicle with titanium rods costing 16,500 UAH. Her family, displaced from Huliaipole, turned to our foundation for help. We arranged with the supplier for a deferred payment until the end of the month, as time is critical in this situation.
Unfortunately, the driver who hit Karyna is not contributing to her medical expenses. A court case is pending, but there is no time to wait – she needs medical care immediately to preserve her health and give her a chance for recovery.
Please help Karyna return to a normal life!
