The big dreams of a little boy

Artem's main dream is to learn to walk. To make this possible, he needs an expensive surgery to be performed in Stryi at the International Center for Neurosurgery. Your help in collecting money can change his life!

Artem's brain was damaged during birth, which led to cerebral palsy, spastic diplegia, and sensorineural deafness.

Due to placental abruption, the child was born at 29 weeks of pregnancy weighing only 1,200 g. The baby spent 3.5 months in the hospital, the first 12 days – under a ventilator.

From the very birth, Artem had to fight for his life. He was diagnosed with blood poisoning, pneumonia, and bilateral cerebral hemorrhage. When the boy was discharged home, the doctors gave unfavorable forecasts.

Closer to four years old, his family began to notice that his son did not always respond to calls and could not hear the vacuum cleaner working. The audiologist confirmed the parents' fears: bilateral deafness. In 2019, Artem had a cochlear implant installed in his right ear. The child wears a hearing aid in his left ear, which hears better.

At the age of two, Artem was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. The boy has visited almost all rehabilitation centers in Ukraine. He is currently studying at the "Rostok Zhyttya" center in his native Kharkiv.

Artem is an incredibly kind, cheerful and caring boy. He loves playing with his dog Luther, loves to draw, color figures made with his grandmother, and write letters and numbers.

Thanks to regular classes, Artem is experiencing positive changes in his development. He can stand on his knees and stand for a short time with support from a support.

Unfortunately, severe muscle tension in his legs prevents him from walking. Spasticity can only be eliminated by selective dorsal rhizotomy – a neurosurgical operation, when the doctor separates the roots of the sensory nerves that go to the leg muscles, relieving their tension.
