Big chance for little Dania

Life of little Dania began with great trials. Being only 1 year old he suddenly felt the terrible abdominal pain because of the severe urinary retention. The child was placed to the Urology Department and the Foley catheter was set but abdominal pain was still on. Doctors said that there is a tumor in the pelvis. 3 more weeks of agonizing waiting, and the terrible diagnosis was confirmed: embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma of the prostate with extension to the bladder, III stage. Let's not to leave Dania alone with his trouble!

Life of little Dania began with great trials. Being only 1 year old he suddenly felt the terrible abdominal pain because of the severe urinary retention. The child was placed to the Urology Department and the Foley catheter was set but abdominal pain was still on. Doctors said that there is a tumor in the pelvis. 3 more weeks of agonizing waiting, and the terrible diagnosis was confirmed: embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma of the prostate with extension to the bladder, III stage. Let's not to leave Dania alone with his trouble!

It is impossible to put into words the parents' emotions who despite such shock gathered all their strength and started their baby's intensive treatment. They've gone through all the torments of oncology, chemo and its consequences: falling blood indicators, high fever, nausea and vomiting, but Dania kept on fighting. The second part of this treatment was about to begin when suddenly the horror came back: this time it was the urinary retention with catheter. The urgent surgery was needed due to the vital risk. The catheters were taken back from the ureters and bladder. Only after that the chemotherapy was proceeded.

Today Dania is still with the urinary catheter and he had six procedures of chemotherapy to reduce the tumor with no positive effect, only its growth. The kid is in an urgent need to continue his treatment in Germany. Such conclusion was made by the local Ukrainian oncologists. The parents appealed to the German clinic "Charité". Since Dania's tumor is very close to the bladder and it grows out of the prostate gland, it shall be uneasy to remove it. In "Charité" clinic the special treatments are being used, thanks to which it is possible to preserve the Dania's organs if not entirely, then at least particulary. Surgical intervention can not be avoided but the practice of the German clinic shows that its doctors can offer great chances for Dania's recovery and so the baby will be able to live a full life... Yes, after this treatment he shall live!

There's about 900 000 UAH left to collect for the treatment. At UBB we collect the required amount of 500 000 UAH for on organ radiotherapy and surgery to save a child's life and to continue his normal functioning. Remaining funds will be collected from other sources.
