From 520 grams to a full life

Polinka was born weighing just 520 g. For nine months, the doctors did everything they could to ensure the little girl survived and learned to breathe, suck and swallow on her own. For 8 years now, Polina has been battling the consequences of perinatal damage to the central nervous system: protein-energy malnutrition, hyperactivity syndrome and digestive problems.

In accordance with Cooperation Agreement No. 21 between the International Charitable Foundation ‘Ukrainian Charity Exchange’ and the charitable aid operator, the Charitable Foundation ‘POMAGAYEM’, dated 31 August 2020, and Supplementary Agreement No. 21. No. 283 of 30 September 2024, the project ‘From 520 g to a Full Life’ was posted on the website of the International Charitable Foundation ‘UBB’ – dobro.ua – with the aim of raising donations to cover the cost of Polina Spodina’s treatment.

During the fundraising campaign, it became necessary to use part of the funds raised on the website of the International Charitable Foundation “Ukrainian Charity Exchange” – dobro.ua – to purchase special dietary products and medicines for the girl.

Therefore, in accordance with letters No. 208 dated 22 May 2025 and No. 546 dated 23 October 2025, we received the collected amounts of 19,140.00 UAH (nineteen thousand one hundred and forty hryvnias, 00 kopecks) and 48,780.00 UAH (forty-eight thousand seven hundred and eighty hryvnias, 00 kopecks) into the Fund’s account and continued the fundraising on the dobro.ua platform.

In May 2025, we purchased medicines and special Resurs Junior food for Polinka with a total value of 19,140.00 UAH (nineteen thousand one hundred and forty hryvnias, 00 kopecks), and in October, for a total of 48,780.00 UAH (forty-eight thousand seven hundred and eighty hryvnias, 00 kopecks).

On 6 February 2026, thanks to donors from the Ukrainian Charity Exchange who closed the fundraising campaign for the girl, we received 65,063.00 UAH (sixty-five thousand sixty-three hryvnias, 00 kopecks) into the Fund’s bank account to cover the child’s treatment and project administration.

In February of this year, we purchased Resource Junior special dietary supplements and medicines for the girl to the value of 58,730.00 UAH (fifty-eight thousand seven hundred and thirty hryvnias, 00 kopecks), and in March we paid for the project administration.

Polinka continues to study online at her school, alongside her classmates and a teacher who wholeheartedly supports them. She has settled in a little at her new home, but constantly asks why they are not returning home.

Medical supervision continues uninterrupted — treatment is adjusted as necessary. At present, the girl is gradually using an occluder for one eye to improve her vision and is following all the doctors’ recommendations. The situation is stable, and Polinka is responsibly doing everything necessary for her health.

However, she misses her friends terribly and sincerely dreams of returning home to her native Pokrovsk.

At present, all funds transferred from the Ukrainian Charity Exchange have been spent on the child’s needs.
