Desperate struggle for life

For more than 8 years, Yulia has been fighting a severe and rare cancer – neuroendocrine tumors. She takes many medications every day to support the functioning of her vital body systems. We are launching a fundraiser to provide Yulia with the necessary medicines for 3 months.

For a long time, doctors could not find the cause of severe pain in the bones, high temperature, loss of 26 kg of weight. The exact diagnosis was established in 2016 at the Kyiv Institute of Endocrinology and confirmed at the Israeli LISOD clinic: neuroendocrine tumors, carcinoid syndrome.

A few years before, scientists had developed a medicine against this disease. When they were prescribed to Yuliia, time for her was already partially lost: the adrenal glands refused, and the liver, kidneys, pancreas, and parathyroid glands work only with medical support.

Yulia immediately started treatment with the anticancer drug Somatulin, one dose of which costs about UAH 35,000. After its introduction, the symptoms of the disease weaken for about a month, the reproduction of tumor cells stops until the next administration.

In the summer of 2021, Yuliia was diagnosed with diabetes. Daily insulin injections were added to the main treatment. Therefore, Yuliia needs test strips for determining the level of glucose in the blood.

Juliia earns part of the funds for her treatment and life by knitting wonderful things. But six months ago, the condition of the spine worsened; the right arm and left leg are numb and refuse to work. A woman spends almost all her time in bed, suffers from pain; the opportunity to earn by needlework has greatly decreased.

Yuliia speaks English, so she learns news about developments in the treatment of her disease from primary sources. To help other patients with this diagnosis, she writes about it on social media, often typing with her left hand.

Every day Yuliia takes many drugs to support the functioning of organs: Hydrocortisone, Lyrica, Alpha D3, Xefokam, Dexalgin, Controlok, Trifas, Dekrystol, Enterogermina, Hepa-Mertz, Schizandrin, Lipopharm, Ursis, Erbisol, Coenzyme Compositum, Momordica Compositum, Maltofer, Sufer, Heptral, Kanefron, Lymphomyozot. Their reception costs approximately UAH 30,000 per month.
