Four-year-old Zlata's bilateral deafness is rapidly progressing: now she can only hear loud words at a distance of up to 3 meters. The audiologist fitted Zlata with hearing aids. But the family with IDP status is unable to raise such a sum.
During the routine ultrasound, Anna was informed that the baby had a serious heart defect and was recommended to give birth at the Kiev perinatal center. A caesarean section was performed on time and Zlata was immediately sent to the Kyiv Center for Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery, where she was operated on on the second day of her life.
A month passed, and Zlata still could not breathe without a ventilator. Then a second cardiac operation was performed. And after 2 weeks, the baby and her mother went home – to Volodymyrivka, Donetsk region. In March 2022, the family had to escape the occupation – move to Slobozhanske, Dnipropetrovsk region.
The baby developed with a slight delay; at two years old she spoke her first words. And in 2023, the family began to notice that the girl reacted poorly to sounds, and her speech development had stopped.
Removal of enlarged adenoids as recommended by an ENT specialist did not change anything. Then Zlata was consulted by an audiologist. An audiogram showed bilateral chronic cochleitis and sensorineural hearing loss. In May of this year, at the Slukh-Service diagnostic and treatment center, an audiologist fitted Zlata with hearing aids, in which she can hear perfectly.
Zlata is an active, persistent girl. She loves roller skating and swings. Her only friend is her 9-year-old brother Dima, because due to hearing problems she cannot communicate with children or attend kindergarten.
Early intervention is extremely important to compensate for hearing problems: after all, a child most actively masters speech at an early age. Right now Zlata has a chance to gain important skills in speech perception and verbal communication that she will use throughout her life.
The family asks for your help in raising funds to purchase Oticon Opn Play hearing aids. Let's give Zlata the opportunity to live a full life!
