Eighth-grade student Dmytro Shevchenko has excellent results in math and computer science, and is interested in history and programming. He plays sports, attends a judo club, and has many friends. But there is one problem that spoils his life. Dmytro has congenital cataracts in both eyes.

This disease can be treated with surgery, but it is still very difficult for Dmytro. His hobby of programming and the rest of his life is under the threat of complete vision loss. When his parents went to the doctors, Dima was diagnosed with cataracts, mild hyperopia, mixed astigmatism in both eyes and moderate amblyopia. Initially, Dmytro wore glasses and underwent hardware therapy, but over the past seven years, his vision has only deteriorated. During his last visit to the doctor, the verdict was unequivocal – only surgery to replace the lenses of both eyes.

For Dmytro's family, it is simply unrealistic to buy all the ophthalmic materials for the surgeries. His father has a second-grade disability and cannot work physically, only his mother works, and the family's budget is barely enough to live on. So they have to ask for help.
