The war against white cells
The disease of Dima Buzovir from Kramatorsk fatally coincided with the war in Donbas. In the hope of temporizing the conflict in a safe place, Dima was sent to a youth basketball sports camp. But all of a sudden three weeks later the weakened and pale boy was brought back to Ukraine, not home, but to Kyiv, to the Onco-Hematology Unit of Okhmatdyt Children's Center…
Up to Dima’s illness his family lived in Kramatorsk. Fourteen-year-old beautiful and strong guy seriously involved in sports, and gave great hope in music playing the piano and saxophone in the school band. Active military operations in the summer of 2014 forced the parents to send the children as far away from this hell as possible. Dima’s basketball coach agreed to send the children to Greece to the summer sports camp. Suddenly, during the international youth teams play Dima lost consciousness. Soon parents were informed that their son had serious health problems.
On July 18th Greek doctors find that Dima’s blood cancer cells and gave him the first round of chemotherapy. It was impossible to take a seriously ill boy back home to Kramatorsk. The entire family had to leave home and work to ensure treatment of their son. Mom is permanently in the hospital taking care of Dima, and the dad has to both earn for the leaving and treatment and to organize everything for it, namely: purchase of expensive drugs, search blood donors, pay for donor’s checks, make inquiries into international clinics, whatsoever. Moreover, the rent in Kiev has to be paid ...
Currently, sociable, cheerful, ever restless Dima has to stay in a confined space, away from home, friends, active life. Dima got pale and thin, chemotherapy took away his hair and strength. But the disease was not able to deprive him of faith and hope to make life dream - to play basketball professionally and become a champion.
To recover Dima needs bone marrow transplantation. It is extremely difficult to the family both financially and mentally. They alone will never collect the amount needed as all the money earned by the dad is paid for the current treatment. They also have nothing to sell... So the crowd’s support from all over the country is deadly required by the family!
We are planning to raise 100 000 UAH on UBB, including the medicines purchase, which accompany the transplant surgery and in the postoperative period.
