Aid to IDPs from Luhansk region
Unfortunately, almost the entire territory of the Luhansk region is currently under russian control, including Stanytsia town, which was home to 25,000 residents before the invasion. Most of the residents were forced to leave their homes and evacuate the town, and thus became internally displaced and sought refuge in different cities of Ukraine.
For example, *Maria shares her story with us: "In October 2022, we were forced to leave our hometown, which was already occupied by the Russians. Together with our elderly parents, we traveled a difficult and dangerous journey of 7 days. We have been living in Kyiv for 1.5 years now, but it is very difficult in the new place, both financially and psychologically, because everything we have gained was left at home. We are looking forward to the de-occupation to return to our home."
Currently, the staff of the Stanytsia Luhanska Military Settlement Administration is doing everything possible to improve the lives of internally displaced persons. There are hubs in Kyiv and Dnipro where IDPs not only from Stanytsia but from any city in Luhansk region can receive the necessary counseling, humanitarian and medical assistance. The hubs serve about 3,500 people.
The hubs have a Primary Health Care Center where people receive free medical services. Unfortunately, the Center lacks medical equipment and medicines, as all supplies remained in the currently occupied city. Therefore, as part of the project, we plan to purchase an electrocardiograph, a medical couch, and a refrigerator for storing medicines. This equipment will help to improve the provision of free services to people and make life easier for IDPs.
