To treat and to operate

Milana is a long-awaited daughter, one of the twins. She and her brother were born prematurely and, unfortunately, with health problems. Milanka was very-very small and could not breathe on her own. After an ultrasound hydrocephalus was detected. Unsuccessful treatment led to inflammation in the patient’s head. Now the girl is at the Institute of Neurosurgery. She needs a CSF shunt system to be installed but before inflammation has to be eliminated. The family has no more resources to treat their kids and they ask for a helping hand.

The young family didn’t have children for a long time. Then God gave them twins: a boy and a girl. They were born prematurely. Days of intensive care and examinations started. During one of them, it turned out that there was fluid accumulated in the girl’s head. The doctors prescribed medication and assured that everything would be fine and surgery was not necessary. But every day the girl’s head got bigger. When eventually the surgery was planned, plus was detected in the girl’s head. Again days of treatment followed till the patient’s condition was stabilized.

The girl was sent to the Institute of Neurosurgery where the doctors recommended installing a shunt system immediately. By this time in Milana’s head, there were cysts; she had vision problems and purulent ventriculitis. To remove hydrocephalus with the help of the surgery, first of all, inflammation must be treated and it requires expensive medication. Without our help, this little baby cannot cope!
