Balancing steps, changing life!

The history of this boy is more than ten years of uninterrupted struggle. At the age of three, during a routine injection, Kyrylo’s sciatic nerve was damaged. This led to severe consequences: impaired innervation, loss of sensation in his right lower leg, and immobility of his foot. Countless treatment and rehabilitation courses yielded little results. Doctors performed several surgeries, including nerve neurolysis and the installation of an electrostimulation system, but significant improvement was not achieved.

Over time, Kyrylo’s right leg became several centimeters shorter than his left, and his foot developed deformities. This, in turn, led to spinal curvature.

A year ago, Kyrylo underwent a crucial surgery – arthrodesis. His foot was fixed in the correct position using implants, and now he can finally put weight on it! This is a huge achievement, but one more important step remains.

The difference in leg length is now almost 4 cm, and if left uncorrected, it will put even more strain on his spine, potentially leading to complications. The least traumatic solution is to temporarily block the growth zones of the healthy leg at two points: the knee and hip joints. This will allow the affected leg to gradually catch up in length.

Kyrylo dreams of living without pain and limitations – to run freely, play football, and finally replace his orthosis with sneakers. He longs for a normal life, and this surgery will help make it a reality.
