Survive in a foreign country

Anar is an ordinary teenager but his dream is not ordinary for a 14-year-old guy. He does not dream of an IPhone, a new videogame or new sneakers, he dreams of surviving and returning to school, to karate and swimming. Anar has Hodgkin’s lymphoma, that is a blood cancer.

Since Anar is not the citizen of Ukraine, he cannot be treated at the national hospital free of charge. If the Ukrainian children receive at least a part of the medicines from the state, Anar’s family has to pay even for hospitalization, for a hospital bed and electricity... They cannot go back to Azerbaijan, there is no one on whom they can count there and after 9 years in Lviv Ukraine has become their home. Anar’s parents came to Lviv from Baku to start a new life. A year later they brought their son with them. The boy went to school there. It took him 2 months to learn the language and to find friends.

At school Anar is a high achiever, he is a very active and friendly guy. Anar speaks 4 languages: Ukrainian, Russian, Turkish and English. He even teaches his mother to speak Ukrainian correctly. However, last spring a tragedy happened to the family. The boy felt bad: weakness, loss of appetite, he started coughing and suffered from suffocating. As a result he underwent a lot of examinations and tests and an inflammatory process was detected. The treatment began. For two months he has been treated at the tuberculosis center in Lviv, he underwent a chemotherapy cycle.

Everything seemed to change for the better but Anar’s condition deteriorated. Anar was sent to the hematology department where he had new examinations, tests and consultations. A new stage of treatment started for him because a tumor was detected.
Anar was prescribed 6 cycles of strong chemotherapy. Four of them are over. Anar courageously fights the disease.

Until now the family has been trying to cope with the situation on their own but after almost a year of treatment they have no more savings. Anar’s mother pleads to save her only son and she counts on you Ukrainians because she knows that you are sincere and good people and you will not let her boy die just because he is not the citizen of Ukraine.
