Vladik is living in hospital

In May, 5-month old Vladik experienced bone-narrow transplantation in Italy - into debt. Because his parents were not able to raise 40 thousand UAH for 2 weeks. And it was impossible to postpone the surgery...The aim of this project is to help parents and give back their debt at least partially. Total price for the treatment is almost one million UAH!

…Vladik came to Kyiv with his mother from small village of Volynska oblast. For the whole period he has been living in the medical box of "Okhmatdet". Because there is a grave danger for him in the outer world: a child has genetous immunodeficiency. 4-month old organizm didn't have any protection from viruses and bacteria, even from those, completely safety for the others. The only chance for Vladik is bone-narrow transplantation abroad. In Ukraine nobody handles such surgeries. 

Specialists from Italy from city Brescia agreed to help him. That is not the first time for clinics - to help Ukrainian children. Total price for the whole treatment process is 103 thousand EURO, plus transportation, accomodation and donor search. This is astronomous amount of money for ordinary Mischuks' family, but they believe in people vast, and they believe in others support! 77,8% of children with such diagnosis as Vladik has, after transplantation have good health.

Parents gathered all the necessary documents to get the support from the government, but their chances were minimal. Only 14 million UAH were planned by the government to support such cases. And they are already spent. While Vladik get help, if it would be still necessary, the government won't have any money again.

To start preparation process for the surgery it was extremely important to find 40 thousand UAH...that couldn't be raised. But the world is better than we think: Vladik has got necessary treatment from the clinics with the condition that parents will pay for that later!

The boy got examination and after some preparations on the 16-th of May the bone-narrow transplantation was conducted. But the joy was shadowed by information that Vladik has got some infection. Because of weak immune system, the virus of herpes that is in the blood of every person, has developed and become a fever. The doctors provided all the necessary treatment and as a result on the 11-th of July Vladik even moved from sterile box to the usual room. Infection didn't give away, but Vladik continues to receive treatment and has good mood as well. We hope that the main disease and its consequences will be defeated in the nearest future. As far as Vladik had to stay at the hospital longer than it has been supposed the treatment value has increased and it costs €150,000 - €175,000 now.

The parents are sincerely thankful to those, helping to raise the money. If this money wouldn't be raised, nobody knows will clinics agree to provide necessary treatment. And it is very important to find these money, because Italian doctors have to support such cases. Nobody know how many of small Ukrainian lifes will be saved in such way...
