Thanks to the charitable support of the mobile operator Vodafone Ukraine, we are implementing a project to purchase state-of-the-art medical equipment for the State Institution "Amosov National Scientific Center for Cardiovascular Surgery and Hereditary Pathology of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine". As part of the project, the Center will receive a 2 C10RL 3-in-1 wireless ultrasound transducer, which will help doctors diagnose congenital heart defects in children more accurately, conduct on-site consultations, and improve the safety of endovascular procedures.
Congenital heart defects are one of the most complex challenges in pediatric medicine. Such diagnoses often require rapid detection, accurate examination, and a timely decision: whether the child needs further observation, specialized treatment, or surgery.
For families, this is always a stressful journey. Parents may spend months searching for answers, traveling to consultations, waiting for tests, and trying to understand how serious their child’s condition is. And for doctors in such cases, it is critically important to be able to quickly and accurately assess what is happening with the child’s heart.
Outreach consultations in Ukraine’s regions are particularly important. Not every medical facility has modern ultrasound equipment. Some hospitals use outdated, bulky systems or have limited diagnostic capabilities. As a result, a child with a suspected heart defect may not receive a high-quality echocardiogram in a timely manner.
A portable wireless ultrasound transducer enables doctors to conduct examinations right on the spot – during on-site consultations, in hospitals lacking modern equipment, or in situations where it is crucial to quickly assess a child’s condition. This helps identify congenital heart defects, determine further treatment strategies, and refer young patients to a specialized center in a timely manner.
A distinct advantage of this probe is its ability to be used in the operating room during endovascular procedures for children with congenital heart defects. Such procedures are often performed via vascular access, without a large incision. It is extremely important for the physician to clearly visualize anatomical structures, monitor procedures, and minimize the risk of complications.
Ultrasound navigation during such procedures helps improve procedural accuracy, perform vascular access more safely, and reduce risks for young patients. When it comes to a child’s heart, every millimeter, every movement, and every decision matters.
The C10RL 3-in-1 wireless ultrasound transducer combines the capabilities of linear, convex, and phased-array transducers. This makes it a versatile tool for a wide range of clinical situations: from initial diagnosis to monitoring complex procedures.
For the doctors at the Amosov Center, this is more than just new equipment. It’s an opportunity to be closer to children in different regions of Ukraine, to identify those in need of specialized care more quickly, to plan treatment more accurately, and to perform procedures more safely.
For children with congenital heart defects, timely diagnosis can make all the difference. A problem detected early is a chance for proper treatment. A timely referral to specialists is a chance to avoid complications. And high-quality equipment in the hands of experienced doctors is a chance for a little heart to keep beating.
