Thanks to the charitable support of the mobile operator Vodafone Ukraine, we are implementing a project to purchase modern medical equipment to help newborns in Kropyvnytskyi. As part of the project, the hospital* will receive a patient monitor, a pulse oximeter, and an aspirator – equipment that helps doctors monitor the condition of infants, support their breathing, and respond quickly in critical situations.

The first minutes and hours of a newborn’s life can be critical – especially if the baby was born prematurely, has a low birth weight, has breathing difficulties, has an unstable heart rhythm, or requires intensive care immediately after birth.

In such cases, doctors must act very quickly. They need to constantly monitor the baby’s heart function, ensure there is enough oxygen in the blood, check that breathing is stable, and watch for any sudden deterioration in condition. For a newborn, even a slight change in vital signs can be a critical signal that must not be overlooked.

That is why medical facilities need equipment that helps keep the child’s condition under constant monitoring and provides timely care.

A patient monitor is a device that allows doctors to continuously monitor an infant’s vital signs. It helps them see the child’s condition in real time and quickly detect changes that may require an immediate medical response.

A pulse oximeter is used to monitor blood oxygen levels and heart rate. For premature and critically ill newborns, these metrics are among the most important. They help doctors determine whether the child is breathing effectively enough and whether they need additional support.

A suction device is used to clear the airways. In newborns, especially those in critical condition, breathing can be impeded by mucus, fluid, or other secretions. A suction device helps to quickly clear the airways, support breathing, and perform necessary resuscitation procedures.

For doctors, these aren’t just pieces of equipment. They are tools that help them be there for a child every day at the most critical moment: to spot danger, act without delay, stabilize the child’s condition, and give the little patient a chance at life.

Thanks to Vodafone Ukraine’s ongoing support, we are able to carry out such important projects and help hospitals obtain the equipment without which it would be impossible to provide quality care to our youngest patients. We thank Vodafone Ukraine for its consistent support, compassion, and contribution to the lives of children who need medical care from the very first moments of their lives.
