Premature birth. Pain, anxiety, misunderstanding why it happened. Every 15th woman in Ukraine faces the misfortune of preterm labor. There are no definite medical reports about the causes of preterm birth. It does not always depend on the health of the mother or the conditions of her life and means. It can happen to anyone. Every 15th child in Ukraine needs to be saved, and it is completely dependent on medical equipment. Now in the Ukrainian maternity hospitals, there is a catastrophic lack of the simplest devices that can save the life of little babies, whose weight is sometimes not even equal to 1 500 grams.

Only we can help save them. Please, support this important charity project! Every preterm child is born with organs that are still underdeveloped and are not ready to work without aid. This means that for the work of lungs, heart and the digestive system special equipment must be used, which is giving the child the ability to survive during the time of nursing. And for all the indicators of life, there must be a continuous round-the-clock and very clear control. After all, it is controlled by special means that can save the life of a small patient.

Oxygen is the most important thing for life. And by its saturation, it can be understood whether hypoxia occurs, which can kill a baby. Oxygen saturation is one of the most important benchmarks that a doctor should keep under control. For this, doctors use a research method that uses a pulse oximeter. With its help, the functions of the respiratory organs are evaluated, respiratory failure is recognized, at which the saturation index becomes lower than 95%. Also, the pulse oximeter shows the baby's pulse and is responsible for the work of the heart.

A pulse oximeter is a modern monitoring and diagnostic medical device that is put on the hand or the leg of a prematurely born child, using a photodetector to diagnose the slightest changes in the color of blood under the influence of oxygen, and then displays the averaged data on a pulse oximeter monitor. Such indicators are a fairly accurate reflection of the real level of oxygen in the blood. Overnight, this device is capable of measuring about 15,000 times while preserving data, allowing us to track the amount of oxygen in the blood over time. The method of obtaining data is non-invasive (does not require blood sampling for the study), so the pulse oximeter measures the needed values quickly, making it easier for the doctor. The advantage of pulse oximetry is that research does not require drawing blood from the arteries. Can you imagine a little hand from which you constantly need to take blood for analysis?

It is important that each pulse oximeter provides flexible control of the alarm system. The display changes color from green to red depending on the signal quality and the patient's condition. If the trouble is close, then this device instantly beats the alarm, which gives doctors the opportunity to save the child's life in time.

The goal of our project is to purchase a pulse oximeter for the Department of Pathology of Premature Newborns of Sumy region children's clinical hospital. So that each child has a chance to survive and live, to delight the parents. Please, support the project and maybe already today this device can save the life of a future artist, philosopher or doctor.
