This is the story of a mother who fled the war and explosions with her child in her arms.
Two years ago, Maksym's mother fled Chernihiv region to the sound of explosions with her baby in her arms, holding him close to her chest to save him. She didn't know if she would make it. She didn't know if her son would survive.
Maksym has been fighting for his life since his first breath. The boy was born with hypoxia and umbilical cord entanglement, and he did not cry. Maksym was not breathing. Doctors began resuscitation measures and connected the baby to a ventilator. After swallowing amniotic fluid, Maksym was diagnosed with congenital pneumonia.
The baby spent the first 12 days of his life in intensive care, 8 of them on a ventilator, then sometimes breathing with a mask because his blood oxygen levels were falling. For almost 1.5 months, the boy was fed through a tube, and until 5 months of age, he had anemia. Then the baby developed seizures, so he received anticonvulsant therapy, which, fortunately, helped. In total, Maksym spent almost 2 months in the hospital.
Today, Maksym is 3 years old. He can already breathe and eat on his own, sit, crawl, and hold his head up. However, his hands and shoulders are still not working properly. Maksym needs rehabilitation: systematic, high-quality, and vitally necessary. Unfortunately, his family does not have the funds to pay for further treatment. His mother, a refugee who saved her son from hell, is now asking for the most important thing – a chance at life for her boy.
Please don't pass by. This little boy deserves to live a full life!
