Save Yaroslav's childhood

   At birth, Yaroslav suffered from the umbilical cord being wrapped around his neck and abdomen, severe hypoxia, a brain haemorrhage and a coma. At one year and four months old, doctors diagnosed him with cerebral palsy, spastic diplegia and severe psychomotor developmental delay.
      In accordance with Cooperation Agreement No. 21 between the Charitable Organisation ‘Ukrainian Charity Exchange’ and the charitable aid operator ‘Pomagayem’ dated 31 August 2020, and Supplementary Agreement No. 21. 339 dated 13 October 2025, the project ‘Save Yaroslav’s Childhood’ was published on the website dobro.ua with the aim of raising charitable donations to cover the cost of Yaroslav Shchukin’s treatment.
      Subsequently, we submitted a request to transfer part of the funds raised, amounting to 17,900.00 UAH (seventeen thousand nine hundred hryvnias, 00 kopecks), to cover the cost of special dietary requirements for Yaroslav, which was carried out in accordance with letter No. 651 dated 12 December 2025. and continued the fundraising campaign on dobro.ua. A further 9,119.00 UAH (nine thousand one hundred and nineteen hryvnias, 00 kopecks) was credited to the fund’s account on 30 July 2025, as per letter No. 323 dated 29 July 2026.
      Thanks to the funds received in 2025, we provided the boy with Resource Junior specialised formula totalling 11,364.00 UAH (eleven thousand three hundred and sixty-four hryvnias, 00 kopecks).
      This year, we are also continuing to support the child. In January, we purchased and delivered the necessary specialised nutrition worth 6,536.00 UAH (six thousand five hundred and thirty-six hryvnias, 00 kopecks), and in August we replenished the stock of specialised nutrition by a further 9,119.00 UAH  (nine thousand one hundred and nineteen hryvnias, 00 kopecks).
      Everything is stable for Yaroslav at the moment. The boy is growing and has really shot up recently, so it may seem as though he has lost a little weight. In reality, however, his weight remains unchanged. Yarik eats well, spends a lot of time outdoors and loves playing with his younger brother.
The boy is actively showing his character — the effects of puberty are becoming apparent. His younger brother helps him a great deal with everyday tasks: he can pass him a glass of water or bring him something to eat.
      Unfortunately, due to changes in the weather, Yaroslav experiences more frequent seizures, so he finds such weather changes difficult to cope with. He will also need to have his gastrostomy tube replaced in the near future, as inflammation has developed around the site where it was fitted.
A specialised diet remains vital for Yaroslav. It helps to sustain the child’s body on an ongoing basis.
      At present, all the funds transferred from the Ukrainian Charity Exchange have been spent on the boy’s needs; the project is still raising funds.
