Saving Our Defender's Son

      When Daniel was admitted to the intensive care unit, the doctor told his parents: ‘His condition is serious, but the child is holding up bravely. And you must pray!’ Daniel is a real fighter; he pulled through. The boy returned home with a diagnosis of insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus.
      In accordance with Cooperation Agreement No. 21 between the International Charitable Foundation ‘Ukrainian Charity Exchange’ and the charitable aid operator, the Charitable Foundation ‘POMAGAEM’, dated 31 August 2020, and Supplementary Agreement No. 21. 342 of 15 December 2025, the project ‘Save Our Defender’s Son’ was launched on the website dobro.ua with the aim of raising funds to cover the cost of Danylo Olefir’s treatment.
      During the fundraising campaign, it became necessary to use part of the funds raised on the website of the Charitable Organisation ‘Ukrainian Charity Exchange’ – dobro.ua – to purchase some of the sensors required for the young man. Therefore, in accordance with letters No. 18 dated 14 January 2026 and No. 295 dated 2 July 2026, we received the raised amounts of 7,100.00 UAH (seven thousand one hundred hryvnias, 00 kopecks) and 9,700.00 UAH (nine thousand seven hundred hryvnias, 00 kopecks) into the fund’s account and continued the fundraising campaign on the dobro.ua platform.
      In January this year, FreeStyle Libre 2 sensors were purchased for Danilo for 7,100.00 UAH (seven thousand one hundred hryvnias, 00 kopecks), and in July a further purchase was made for 9,700.00 UAH (nine thousand seven hundred hryvnias, 00 kopecks).
      Danylo is going through a difficult period in his life at the moment, but he is trying very hard to stay strong and be independent.
      In July, his grandmother was suddenly admitted to hospital, so Danylo travelled to be by her side. He is currently working as a waiter in a café. It’s the university holidays, so he works almost every day and doesn’t get home until after midnight. He really enjoys his job, although he has less and less time and energy left for himself.
      This year, Danylo was granted a Category III disability status for a period of one year. He tries to work, study and lead a normal life, but needs to monitor his blood sugar levels daily and requires the necessary sensors.
      Danylo is sincerely grateful to everyone who supports him, as the help he receives enables him to live more peacefully and overcome difficulties.
At present, all the funds transferred from the Ukrainian Charity Exchange have been spent on the young man’s needs; the project is still raising funds.
