Anya is a creative and cheerful eight-year-old girl, an inquisitive and diligent student who loves mathematics the most. The girl attends a singing group and also dreams of acting in films. Her furry friends are always waiting for her at home, two cats Jesse and Boris, who have become real members of the family.
From birth to the age of one, Anya grew up as a completely healthy child and was never ill. One day she refused to eat, did not want to dance or sing, she just lay there and looked at the ceiling. The doctor immediately sent the child to the hospital. After examination and tests, her sugar level turned out to be critically high. Anya was taken by ambulance to the regional hospital, where she spent two days and two nights in intensive care, and then another three weeks in the endocrinology department with a diagnosis of type 1 diabetes mellitus.
During the 7 years of the disease, there has been everything: uncontrolled severe hypos, when the child loses consciousness from low sugar, and high sugar levels that cannot be brought down. Unfortunately, diabetes has consequences, and the girl has developed complications with her blood vessels. That is why sensors are the most necessary thing in controlling diabetes. They are the eyes that help to see her sugar level every five minutes without numerous finger pricks every day. This is the only way to prevent critical health indicators.
The family is forced to seek help, because their financial situation does not allow them to provide Anya with a continuous monitoring system. Her father needs treatment after a severe heart attack, and her mother works as a cleaner at the school to be closer to Anya while she studies. As a result, there is a catastrophic lack of funds for treatment.
Let us help Anya remain an active, courageous and smiling girl. Each contribution is another safe day, less fear for the family and more chances for Anya to fulfil her dreams!
