Food for the elderly. 2

"Even in my worst nightmares, I could never imagine that I would live out the rest of my life feeling as if no one cares and being a lonely old man.  I never thought I would beg for charity meals standing in a line with my hand outstretched", one of the wards of the Ukrainian Charity Alliance says. Unfortunately, each of our wards faces hunger or even starves. Most of them haven’t dreamt of a meal made up of several courses in a while, and tea with sweets is unaffordable luxury for them. During a month, we provide food to more than 800 families in need. In order to purchase additional food and disposable utensils for packing ready meals in February, we lack UAH 20,783.

Our wards are people who live in very difficult conditions at the edge of poverty. Due to difficult financial situation, respectable age, loneliness or serious illnesses, they are left alone with their problems. Their pension is on average about UAH 2,500 – 3,000, while the payment for utilities and minimum purchases of medicines significantly exceeds this amount. As a result, there is little money left to buy food, or sometimes there is no money left at all.

In two years of active work, we have never left our wards alone with their problems. Nine times a month, we provide ready-made charity meals for people in need, where one set is 2-3 meals enough for an adult.

Thanks to caring people we managed to raise full funding for the project “Food for the Elderly” in January, and now we have the opportunity to organize delivery of proper and nutritious meals for people in need in time. At present, the delivery of charity meals continues, and the number of our wards is constantly increasing. The need to regularly provide them with proper and healthy food in February 2022 remains urgent. That's why any support is important to them.
