The demographic situation in Ukraine now is critical, while preterm born babies are a special category of children: they are very weak and fragile. Many functions of their bodies are still immature. If a baby weighs up to 1500 grams at birth, it meets many problems during the first months of its life - problems of pulmonary, cardiovascular, nervous and digestive systems. Every saved life of such babies is priceless! Due to this project, we will be able to purchase the vital medical equipment for kids – a pulseoximeter in the department of anesthesiology and intensive care newborn Lviv Communal City Children's Clinical Hospital.

The preterm born child requires a constant monitoring by doctors - control of the vital functions of the organism, which is developing- breathing and heartbeat. There is a large number of pathologies, development of which is accompanied by the lack of oxygen in a he blood of a baby. Pulseoximeters are used to detect the level and lack of oxygen and controlling the heartbeat rate of the littlest patients. It is a special medical device that allows to quickly measure how much the hemoglobin of the capillary blood is enriched with oxygen.

Delivery of oxygen to tissue cells – is the most important function of this protein, necessary for normal body functioning. Due to the pulseoximeter, this figure can be measured non-invasive – this means that the tinies will get rid of this painful and unpleasant procedures as blood sampling. And they always be in direct connection with the medical staff, because in case of any deviation from the norm, the machine will send a sound signal to the medical personnel.

Every preterm born baby is like a little plant – it needs attention, care, sunlight. It depends only on us what will grow from that little seed - a known doctor, a talented singer or a world-known inventor. But you will never know that if you don't give a chance for life.
