Protect children from pain!

The struggle for a child's life is a daily task of the doctors of the Odessa Regional Children's Clinical Hospital, which requires a lot of resources: a high level of professionalism, extensive experience, the availability of modern equipment, medicines, etc.

The use of high-quality drugs and medical supplies is one of the main criteria for a patient's quick recovery. It is important to understand that any manipulation must be strictly justified and if it can be replaced with a less traumatic and less painful one, then this must be done. In practice, we often encounter the fact that the use of low-trauma drugs or other highly specialized medical products significantly increase the amount of treatment, and the limited hospital funding is not able to cover it, and the situation is shifted onto the shoulders of the parents. At such moments, it is very difficult to convince loved ones that the price of medical products really affects the quality. One notable example is the Bbraun Certofix catheter for central venous catheterization in a child. The catheter has one to five separate lines (tubes) through which different drugs are injected, which prevents them from mixing with each other, and the puncture (puncture) of the vessel is performed only once.

Such a catheter provides only one access and is able to replace from two to five (or even more) cheap analogs, which makes this manipulation minimally traumatic and safer for the patient, especially if these are newborn children.

This project is aimed at improving the quality of care for children of the Odessa region with congenital developmental anomalies who end up in the intensive care unit after complex heart operations. The purchase of a six-month supply of catheters will reduce injuries when placing catheters in small patients and ensure their safety during manipulations.
