For the opportunity to be a child

Little Sofiika's life changed dramatically when she was only four years old. Her family will forever remember the day two years ago when doctors diagnosed her with type 1 diabetes. That was the beginning of a daily struggle: for every morning without high blood sugar, for every peaceful night's sleep, for the chance to just be a child.

Measurements, injections, counting every gram of carbohydrates – all this became part of their new reality. But even through pain, fear, and fatigue, they do not give up. Because they have incredible strength of spirit, smiles, and a child's heart that continues to love life. The girl loves gymnastics above all else and studies diligently at school.

At the age of three, Sofia lost the person closest to her – her father. And despite everything, she is learning to live on, with the belief that kindness and support from others can work wonders. Her mother, left alone with two children, is unable to cope with the financial costs of Sofia's treatment, in particular the sensors for continuous glucose monitoring.
