For the sake of a real childhood

Little Valeria recently turned 2. This cheerful, energetic little girl had hardly ever been sick and was eagerly exploring the world until it was suddenly and irrevocably turned upside down. Just days after her second birthday, the girl ended up in the ICU, where her parents received the devastating diagnosis – type 1 diabetes. Every hour, her little fingers and toes were pricked to check her blood sugar levels: in the ICU alone, she had at least 30 such tests.

After the ICU, she spent three weeks in the hospital. There, Valeria’s blood sugar was checked about six times a day, she received at least four insulin injections daily, and a strict schedule was established that the girl will have to follow for years to come. Before her hospitalization, the girl attended preschool, where she played with other children and learned about the world.

To ensure the child can sleep peacefully, Valeria needs continuous glucose monitoring sensors. These devices will transmit her blood sugar levels to a phone every minute and alert her to levels that are too high or too low. They will make life easier for the family and more comfortable. Unfortunately, our government does not provide sensors to people with diabetes, and the family cannot afford to buy them on their own at this time. Please help this little girl have a peaceful and colorful childhood!
