The illness entered Ivan’s life when he was four years old. The boy began to lose weight rapidly and developed irritability, weakness and thirst. He was admitted to hospital with a blood glucose level of 16 mmol/l – three times higher than normal. Ivan is now 12 years old, and one day he is sure to make a significant contribution to the development of IT. For now, however, we must safeguard his health.
In accordance with Cooperation Agreement No. 21 between the International Charitable Foundation ‘Ukrainian Charity Exchange’ and the charitable aid operator, the Charitable Foundation ‘POMAGAYEM’, dated 31 August 2020, and Supplementary Agreement No. 21. 319 of 9 June 2025, the project ‘Let’s Preserve the Health of a Future Inventor’ was posted on the website dobro.ua with the aim of raising donations to cover the cost of Ivan Mukha’s treatment.
During the fundraising campaign, it became necessary to use part of the funds raised on the website of the Charitable Organisation International Charitable Foundation “Ukrainian Charity Exchange” – dobro.ua – to purchase some of the sensors for the boy. Therefore, in accordance with letters No. 405 dated 17 September 2025 and No. 63 dated 5 February 2026, we received the raised amounts of 10,740.00 UAH (ten thousand seven hundred and forty hryvnias, 00 kopecks) and 5,767.00 UAH (five thousand seven hundred and sixty-seven hryvnias, 00 kopecks) into the Fund’s account and continued the fundraising on the dobro.ua platform.
In the summer of 2025, we purchased Freestyle Libre 2 sensors for Ivan to the value of 10,740.00 UAH (ten thousand seven hundred and forty hryvnias, 00 kopecks).
In February 2026, we also supported the boy with the necessary Freestyle Libre 2 sensors, amounting to 5,767.00 UAH (five thousand seven hundred and sixty-seven hryvnias, 00 kopecks).
Vanya has been living with type 1 diabetes for 9 years, and for 8 of those years his family has been using continuous glucose monitoring sensors. Thanks to the sensors, they can effectively control his blood sugar levels, which is extremely important for maintaining stable blood glucose levels and preventing complications of the disease.
For Vanya’s mum, life without a sensor is like living blindfolded. A glucose meter cannot provide constant monitoring or track changes in blood sugar levels in real time, which is made possible by a continuous glucose monitoring system. This not only helps to better manage his health but also gives the child the freedom to live a full life: playing sports, spending time with friends, and avoiding the constant fear of sharp fluctuations in blood sugar levels or the risk of falling into a coma.
Currently, all funds transferred from the Ukrainian Charity Exchange have been spent on the boy’s needs, and the project is still raising funds.
We sincerely thank the donors and partners at dobro.ua for their help, and the UCE team for their long-standing cooperation!
