10-year-old Dmytro is a kind, active, and very intelligent boy. He has lived with a serious diagnosis – type 1 diabetes (insulin-dependent) – for most of his life. The disease was detected when he was only ten months old. The boy spent a week in intensive care, then another month in the endocrinology department. Since then, every day for the family has been clearly planned: constant monitoring, injections, and fear of sudden changes in blood sugar levels.
Dmytro is in 5th grade. He wants to live a full life, study, hang out with friends, and be independent. But diabetes constantly demands attention. He often experiences sudden spikes in glucose levels, both high and low. Such situations are dangerous and can occur at any time: at school, on a walk, and especially at night.
His mother is raising him on her own. This small and incredibly strong family left their hometown of Pokrovsk two years ago, leaving with nothing. Since then, they have been building a new life in a new place step by step, but the constant costs of treatment, examinations, and care for the child are a significant financial burden. The mother cannot afford to buy the necessary number of continuous glucose monitoring sensors, which are indispensable devices that save her from uncertainty, anxiety, and sudden critical readings.
Help Dmytro grow up without letting terrible circumstances break him!
