It often happens that care-leavers making first steps to adulthood have no place to live. They can not fully integrate into society where they have to make decisions and take responsibility. This leads to unemployment, using alcohol, drugs, homelessness, even committing suicide in some cases.Social apartment can become a temporary safe home for them on their way to independence. Administration of Vyshgorod rayon has bought a five-room flat, but it must be repaired to be suitable for living. We ask for your help in raising money for this work!

So many young people in Ukraine face housing problems... Everyone is trying to solve it in his own way: someone lives with parents, someone rents housing (sometimes using parent’s financial support), someone takes credit for mortgage. Housing issue is one of the biggest life challenges for each person. This task often becomes unrealizable especially for care-leavers. They enter independent life without necessary skills, because they can be developed only in family environment. They do not have parent's home, where youth often finds shelter if it is needed.

Social apartment for these young people becomes a safe temporary housing on their way to independent life. Living in a social apartment includes not just having place for living, but also improving self-service skills, assisting in development of independence and autonomy. Social housing provides opportunities for sure start in independent life due to the support of social workers and psychologists.

Partnership for Every Child while implementing the project "Sure Start": care-leavers integration program" provides complex support to young people during their early adulthood in 4 pilot areas of Kyiv oblast. Administration of Vyshgorod rayon, one of the project partners, has bought a five-room apartment in newly built block of flats. It is situated in Novy Petrivtsy village near Kyiv. Partnership for Every Child plans to make the flat suitable for living. That includes installation of electricity and water supply networks, fixing floor, ceiling, walls, finishing work and furnishing.
8 young people are expected to live there same time (2 persons per room).
