A pain-free life for Dasha

      Sometimes childhood ends far too soon. At the age of two, Dasha was diagnosed with diabetes. And although the illness divided her life into ‘before’ and ‘after’, it was precisely this that taught Daria the most important lesson of all – never to give up.
      In accordance with Cooperation Agreement No. 21 between the International Charitable Foundation ‘Ukrainian Charity Exchange’ and the charitable aid operator, the Charitable Foundation ‘POMAGAEM’, dated 31 August 2020, and Supplementary Agreement No. 21. No. 346 of 8 January 2026, the project ‘A Pain-Free Life for Dasha’ was published on the website of the International Charitable Foundation ‘Ukrainian Charity Exchange’ (UCE) – dobro.ua – with the aim of raising funds to cover the cost of Daria Bezpala’s treatment.
      During the fundraising campaign, it became necessary to use the funds raised on the website of the Charitable Organisation International Charitable Foundation ‘Ukrainian Charity Exchange’ – dobro.ua – to purchase some of the sensors for the girl. Therefore, in accordance with letter No. 17 dated 14 January 2026, we received the raised sum of 11,540.00 UAH (eleven thousand five hundred and forty hryvnias, 00 kopecks) into the Fund’s account and continued the fundraising campaign on the dobro.ua platform.
      In January of this year, we purchased Freestyle Libre 2 sensors for Dasha at a cost of 11,540.00 UAH (eleven thousand five hundred and forty hryvnias, 00 kopecks).
      The initial target for the project was 58,464.00 UAH (fifty-eight thousand four hundred and sixty-four hryvnias, 00 kopecks). Once the full amount required to cover Dasha’s treatment had been raised on two fundraising platforms – the Ukrainian Charity Exchange and the ‘Pomagayem’ Charitable Foundation – we requested that the fundraising campaign be closed, that the project amount on the Ukrainian Charity Exchange be reduced to the amount actually raised – 16,324.00 UAH (sixteen thousand three hundred and twenty-four hryvnias, 00 kopecks),and to transfer 4,784.00 UAH (four thousand seven hundred and eighty-four hryvnias, 00 kopecks) to our current account to cover the cost of the girl’s treatment and the administration of the project, in accordance with letter No. 278 dated 30 June 2026.
      In July this year, thanks to the funds received, we purchased a further batch of Freestyle Libre 2 sensors for the girl, costing 3,967.80 UAH (three thousand nine hundred and sixty-seven hryvnias, 80 kopecks), and also covered the project administration costs.
      Dasha’s condition is currently stable. She continues to monitor her blood sugar levels, although she occasionally experiences both low and high readings. The girl has already learnt to cope with such situations and keeps a close eye on how she is feeling.
      During the summer holidays, Dasha enjoys meeting up with her friends and going to the river. She also goes for walks around town, albeit with caution. She plans to return to her dance classes, which she loves very much, in the near future.
Dasha will soon be starting Year 9. More than anything, Dasha dreams of returning home. Unfortunately, the situation does not yet allow this dream to come true, and it is unclear when exactly this will be possible. However, the family has not lost hope and believes things will get better.
      At present, all the funds transferred from the Ukrainian Charity Exchange have been spent on the girl’s needs.
