Child's life is at risk

Alisa is a thirteen-year-old Kharkiv girl, a smart, beautiful and polyglot. Alisa urgently needs spinal surgery.

An orthopedist first diagnosed scoliosis in 2013, when the girl was three years old. Alisa follows all the doctors’ recommendations: she does exercise therapy and swimming, gets massages, and wears a corset around the clock. But unfortunately, this did not help stop the process of spinal curvature.

Alisa’s main dream is to get rid of scoliosis and a corset. This device causes her torment: the girl’s left arm goes numb because the nerves and blood vessels are compressed; a hemorrhage has formed on the right thigh (the structure puts pressure on it); chafing appeared in the area of the left armpit, it became infected, and now there is a wound there.

The curvature has reached such a degree that the internal organs are compressed. Alisa often has pain in her heart and it is impossible to take a deep breath. When she has to stand for a long time, her entire spine hurts.

Alisa was scheduled for surgery at the International Center for Neurosurgery to straighten the spine using a metal structure. The cost of the implant, the operation itself and a week of hospital stay is 370,000 UAH. The family cannot afford this amount. And without the surgery, not only the health, but the life of the girl is at risk.

In mid-March 2022, Alisa and her mother had to leave Kharkiv because their side of city was being brutally shelled. When the girl arrives in her hometown, she sleeps in the corridor behind two walls in their apartment on the 12th floor.

Recently, the specialized school where Alisa studied from the 1st grade was destroyed. Alisa is an excellent student, she knows English, German, Polish, Russian and Ukrainian and is thinking about becoming a translator.

The amount raised is very large and time is against Alisa. Let's do everything so that the girl can be operated on as quickly as possible, eliminating scoliosis and the corset!
