Mariyka's life depends on medicine

Maria's birth was urgent and very difficult. Immediately after birth, the baby was connected to a ventilator. On the 10th day of her birth, the girl underwent her first intestinal surgery. For almost a month she was between heaven and earth. Fate decided that the girl should live. And Maria started breathing on her own. She and her mother spent two months in the hospital, where doctors confirmed the diagnosis of Down syndrome.

Unfortunately, this was only the beginning of her difficult journey. At the age of 6 months, doctors diagnosed cataracts in both of her eyes, which were operated on in Kyiv. At the same time, in Kyiv, Mariyka was diagnosed with another serious illness. Symptomatic epilepsy and cerebral palsy were added to the list of the girl's serious illnesses.

The selection of medications to stop the seizures lasted for more than a year. Doctors tried many drugs, but they did not give significant results. Finally, an effective medicine was selected. But these medicines are not provided free of charge by the state. Now Mariya is in medical remission, her seizures have been suspended, but her treatment must not be interrupted!

Now Mariya is 10 years old, she does not sit, stand, walk or talk on her own. The girl constantly undergoes rehabilitation courses and studies with her mother at home. The child is studying at a specialized school on an individual basis. Mariya, like all the other "sunny" children, is a very positive girl who loves communication, music and physical activities.

Only her father works in her family. Her mother used to work as a kindergarten teacher, and now she spends all her time looking after her daughter, who constantly needs outside help.
