Every year, thousands of premature babies are born in Ukraine. These tiny fighters enter the world too early, weighing as little as 500 grams, and face immense challenges that often become a matter of life and death. Their underdeveloped organs cannot function independently — they can’t breathe, regulate their body temperature, or maintain a stable heartbeat. Every minute without proper medical care increases the risk of losing their fragile lives.

Sadly, the war has made the situation even more critical. Bombings, stress, and limited access to quality healthcare have led to a rise in premature births. Ukrainian hospitals are heroically managing under extreme conditions, but the medical equipment needed to save these newborns is often outdated or unavailable.

For these tiny lives, constant monitoring of their vital signs is essential. Bedside monitors allow continuous tracking of key health indicators, enabling immediate responses to any changes. Without these devices, these fragile infants may lose the crucial time needed for intervention.

The monitors we plan to purchase, model PVM-4763, are state-of-the-art devices that provide comprehensive monitoring of a baby’s condition. Each unit includes:

ECG cable and electrodes — to monitor heart rhythms and detect any abnormalities or signs of heart failure in time.

Extension cable and SpO2 sensor — for precise oxygen saturation measurements, critical for infants with underdeveloped lungs.

Cuff set for blood pressure monitoring — to track pressure changes and prevent critical events.

Rectal temperature sensor — to ensure stable temperature monitoring, vital for maintaining the baby’s condition.

We aim to deliver these monitors to three essential hospitals in Ukraine, which are on the front lines of saving the lives of premature babies:

Khmelnytskyi City Perinatal Center of Khmelnytskyi City Council.

Lviv Territorial Medical Association, “Multidisciplinary Clinical Hospital for Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine”.

Children’s City Clinical Hospital of Poltava City Council.

These hospitals work tirelessly every day to care for premature babies. Modern equipment will help their medical teams perform even more effectively and save more lives.

These little ones, who can’t yet breathe or support life on their own, desperately need our help. Together, we can give them a chance at life and a healthy future.
