Olena has been suffering from type 1 diabetes since childhood. If not for this disease, her life would have been much better. But diabetes has added many complications to her life, both physical and emotional.
Despite her severe incurable disease, she managed to find the desire to have a baby. But she was a mom for only 1 week, and her newborn baby died. Olena's kidneys failed then. Therefore, for 8 years she has been forced to undergo hemodialysis replacement therapy and wait for a kidney transplant. The doctors advised Olena to use an insulin pump so that the new kidney could work properly and for a long time. On hemodialysis, the blood sugar level “takes on a life of its own”, and it is very difficult to control it on your own. Fortunately, Olena found a pump for herself. However, she cannot buy consumables for it, because their cost per month exceeds her social pension for group 1 disability.
Olena would really like to wait for the transplant and do her favorite things – painting and singing. When she feels a little better, she and her singing friends perform at charity concerts. And when she is not feeling well, Olena paints pictures at home. Creativity helps her not to get depressed. She also recently suffered a stroke, and she is still unable to move around on her own because she can't keep her balance. Olena needs help buying supplies for her insulin pump.
