Warm preterm infants

From the first days of our lives we need the warmth of mother's hands, her hugs and care. However, for the infants from 500 to 2500 grams of weight at birth, who need a special care right after their birth, the mother's warmth helps to substitute the specific devices and positioners, which are a necessary element of the non-invasion therapy, which is required to nursing such premature born children. Special "nests" and pillows are vital during the long lasting nursing.

They have unique properties of thermoregulation and saving the body temperature and provide an additional comfort and proper body position, along with the proper circulation of the baby's blood. In the department of neonatology center of NDSB "OKHMATDYT" over 600 premature born children are fighting for life, who, considering all the difficulties, which they are facing from birth, require the special products for the positioning of the baby's body. For now these are substituted with the twisted towels and diapers, which are often carved by their own parents.

The products for the body positioning of the premature-born infants was developed in conjunction with leading neonatologists of Ukraine, taking into account all the features of children born prematurely. The usage of "nests", special linings and pads help reduce agitation, help the formation of normal functions of respiration, digestion, helps to avoid the negative impact on the circulation of the brain, skull deformities and severe motor abnormalities. With the help of the positioning devices the infant can feel his hands and legs, make less effort to movements, making the rehabilitation period newborn take less time.

Boxes and positioners are important elements of a noninvasive therapy to help with caring for premature babies. This practice of nursing is not new, but borrowed from the leading perinatal practices in Europe.
