Zolochiv community: food assistance for IDPs

Zolochiv community of the Kharkiv region is geographically located at the border with the Russian Federation. During the spring and summer, the community was hit very hard by the enemy, and several districts were under occupation for a long time. There is still shelling of civilian infrastructure, which leads to a prolonged absence of electricity and water supply, and in some places there is no cellular communication.

Three thousand people, who fled from the occupation since the beginning of the war, settled in the Zolochiv community. But, unfortunately, after liberation of their home towns and settlements, it turned out that now they have nowhere to return – the occupiers left behind destroyed houses, in addition, electric and gas supply systems are damaged and there is no water supply. It is impossible to live in such conditions in winter.

Due to the damage to infrastructure and destruction of businesses, hundreds of workplaces, which provided the local population with stable jobs every month, have been lost. Of course, in such conditions there are no jobs for displaced people either, which means that there are no sources of income that could provide at least the basic needs of these people.

In order to support the families of internally displaced people who find themselves without housing and means of livelihood, we want to provide them with the basic necessities – food, and for this we need to collect 877,500 UAH. Each package of foodstuff costs 650 UAH, which includes: 2 kg of pasta, 2 packages of rice, 2 packages of cereals, 1 package of sugar, 1 bottle of oil, 2 cans of stewed meat, 3 cans of canned fish, 1 package of tea and sweets (cookies, chocolate, condensed milk or wafers).

With rational consumption of food there is enough for 4-5 weeks for one person and 2 weeks for a family. These people now need not only shelter but also psychological, moral and humanitarian support. We urge everyone who cares to join the collection and help us provide these people with food.
