More than love
Nastya’s life can be compared to a butterfly wing - it’s so fragile. Her existence completely depends on two tubes. Through one Nastya breathes, through another she eats. Without these catheters in the trachea- and gastrostomy the girl will not be able to live. And also without special nutrition, medicines, consumable items and equipment. If you transform all these “without” into numbers, you will get about 15000 UAH per month, of which the state grants her a little more than 3 thousand.
Without assistance from concerned people, Nastya would not have lived for a long time.
The true knots in cord is a rare obstetric pathology, found in only 1-2% of pregnancies. Nastya “got” into this percentage. The node fastened and blocked the access of oxygen from mother without waiting for the planned Cesarean operation. The result was prolonged hypoxia, which led to baby’s brain damage. The absence of sucking and swallowing reflexes and endless convultions – in this state, Nastyusha came home. According to the prognoses of doctors, she had about a year to live. At present Nastya is ten years old.
Nastya wakes up at 6 in the morning. Father makes a mixture for her, connects the gastrostomy to the pump and goes to get ready for work - his duty ends. During the night, he has to clean the trachea with an aspirator and roll his daughter on her side or on her back five times at best. When Nastya is ill – about twenty. The father used to live like that. He does not remember how it is to sleep without a break. In the afternoon, Nastya’s mother takes care after her. She treats stomas with an antiseptic, changes wipes and filters, cleans the trachea. Every 15 minutes Nastya needs her mother’s hands. Because of the spine curvature, it is painful and uncomfortable to lie in one position.
The mother does not consider all this routine difficult. Every day in her head she thinks about where to get consumable items that simply do not exist in Ukraine. For what to buy and how to get special food that will not cause vomiting and which also does not exist in Ukraine. A quest to find and purchase everything you need is more exhausting than taking care of a girl around the clock. And what is more, the mother is worried that their aspirator does not break. The one that turns on seventy times a day.
By evening, Nastya is already waiting for her father – after work, the first thing he gives a hug to his daughter and carries in his arms on the street – for a walk. Nastya is surrounded by an aura of boundless love and believes that mother and father will do everything possible to make her live. And they do. For ten years now. For Nastya and her younger brother and sister.
We cannot turn time back and change fate. But it lies in our power to help to provide comfortable living conditions for a wonderful girl. We ask you to support this friendly family!
The purpose of our collection is to purchase medicines, consumable items, hygiene products for six months. All that you can buy in our country.
