Polina Nenya is a TV presenter, founder of bestin.ua site and its editor in chief, mother of 2 children, joined the team of CF "Svichado" to participate in Charity halfmarathon Kyiv, which runs under NovaPoshtaKyivHalfMarathon 2016. Within the Charity Half Marathon Polina is fundraising 98 000 UAH for the purchase of the reanimator of infants for the neonatal intensive care department of "Maternity home №2" of Chernivtsi.

Children who are born prematurely, before 32 weeks in particular, can not take the first own breath after birth and require timely secure initial intensive care. We call them little Neterplyachki or the Preemies. First of all, doctors need to help the child do this first breaths. This can be done using special devices – neonatal reanimator, that allows strictly controlled positive pressure insufficiently, straightening lungs, and pressure on breathing out, which prevents the lungs from sticking. This process is physiological for newborns and resembles their own breathing.

Neonatal reanimator allows to control the volume and force with which air mixture is fed into the lungs of the baby and prevents lung injury. Precise pressure control at breathe out prevents adhesion formation and pulmonary atelectasis. Humidification and heated gas mixture also protect the lungs of prematurely born baby from damage. The use of special reanimator allows children to take breaths without tracheal intubation, reducing the need for the introduction of surfactant preparations and holding of the traditional mechanical ventilation through a tracheal tube, oxygen reduces the dependence on treatment of children in the intensive care. Due to these effects, the risk of infection and severity of pain decreases, children can be transferred to the department of being compatible with their mothers and then discharged home, where the the whole family is waiting for them.

Intensive care department of Clinical Maternity Hospital №2 of Chernivtsi specializes in helping kids born prematurely and has an immediate need for a special reanimator for newborns that will help to significantly improve the quality of primary intensive care of premature born babies and to improve their quality of life in the future.

"Taking part in the Charitable Marathon allows all to unite for saving little preemies, since children are our future and our hope. I might not run the full distance of 21 km, but i am confident that every kilometer, every meter and centimeter of the distance brings little kids closer to being healthy and their parents to rest".

Even 1 UAH is a huge help! Run for the little preemies!
