The House of a Mother and a Child

In Ivano-Frankivsk 7 under-age mothers and 18 their children live in the Settlement of Saint Nicolas’ Mercy. They have never had their houses or they were thrown away from their own. These children, already having their own, might be on the street again – under the rain and snow, if the Settlement will be washed away with ground and rain water flows. Urgently we need money to provide drainage works.

In 2002 at the entrance of the Monastery of Sisters of God and God's Mother from Matar (Ivano-Frankivsk) several under-age pregnant girls appeared. They had no place to live... And Charitable Organization "Settlement of Saint Nicolas' mercy" opened its doors in 2004.

Since than the Settlement gave a shelter for 81 mothers with their children.

Lonely mothers leave their children in despair. But the number of mothers, left their children with themselves, increased, because they know that in case of necessity they can find the safety place. "Settlement for mother and child" shelter pregnant women and mothers with children, which faced difficult life situations.

As mothers are too young, we help them to choose their future professions. One of our first mothers, Olya after graduation finished manicure courses and got married the father of her child. Another under-age mother Ira after school graduated National University of Oil and Gas in Ivano-Frankivsk and lives independantly. At present we have 7 mothers and 18 their children. We take mothers with children without any time limits, as we understand that some problems cannot be solved in one day, or one month, or even one year.

Every year the number of mothers increases and shelter gets worse. As usual we face lack of money for repairing, but we are in acute need of that. Every year the basement of the house is watered with sewage and rain waters. With drenage we may save not only house, but the ground as well. In general, drenage is a branched system of tubes that are interconnected and protect building of humidity. 

If we make all the necessary drenage system works, the "Settlement of Saint Nicolas' Mercy" will be able to provide a shelter to everybody that is in such a need.
