A sensor that can save thousands of lives

About 1000 newborns with many life-threatening diseases are treated annually in four neonatal departments of the OKHMATDYT National Children's Hospital* with a total bed capacity of 90 beds.  These include congenital malformations requiring emergency surgeries, children with extremely low body weight (less than 1000 g) who have been treated in the hospital for more than 2-3 months, prematurely born children requiring neurosurgical interventions (such care is provided only at the OKHMATDYT Hospital), and other categories of patients.

To cure and nurse these children, the team of medical professionals needs the highest quality equipment. This equipment includes ultrasound machines that provide timely and continuous diagnostics and are equipped with the appropriate sensors. The neonatal unit has one high-end ultrasound machine. It was purchased by Monobank's benefactors, who donate their cashback to Courage's charitable projects on a monthly basis. This means that they help preterm and newborn babies from all over Ukraine, including the little patients of the OKHMATDYT National Children's Hospital.

Now there is a huge need to buy another sensor for this ultrasound machine, which could help in diagnosing and checking medical procedures, namely vascular catheterization in the youngest patients. Using this sensor will reduce complications during catheterization to 0%.

That is why doctors are asking all concerned to help raise funds for the purchase of much-needed medical equipment that can save lives and will serve for 10-12 years. This is a long-term investment that will help thousands of children.
